Union Minister Nitin Gadkari brushed off the criticism around the government’s ethanol-blended petrol plan, saying the attacks are just politically motivated. Speaking at an event in Nagpur, he said, “My brain is worth ₹200 crore a month. I’m not short of money, and I don’t stoop low.”
The government has been pushing for petrol mixed with 20% ethanol (E20), calling it a cleaner fuel that also helps farmers earn more from crops like sugarcane and maize.

But critics aren’t convinced. They argue the policy could worsen water shortages, harm vehicles, and have even accused Gadkari of benefiting personally — claiming two big ethanol companies are run by his sons.
