Union Minister Nitin Gadkari made a significant statement about diesel cars during a CII program. Advising people, Gadkari suggested that it’s time to say goodbye to diesel vehicles. Additionally, the Minister for Road Transport and Highways appealed to car manufacturers to stop producing diesel vehicles.
Nitin Gadkari, who is actively working to reduce pollution from fuel and its imports, warned, “If the production of diesel vehicles is not stopped soon, we will impose such high taxes on them that selling them will become difficult. We need to move towards a new, environmentally friendly path, away from petrol and diesel.” He further mentioned that he would request the Finance Minister to impose an additional 10% GST on diesel vehicles.
Gadkari, who uses an eco-friendly car himself, mentioned, “My car runs on ethanol. If you compare it with petrol, it costs about 25 rupees per kilometer, whereas the cost is even lower with ethanol. One liter of ethanol costs around 60 rupees, while petrol prices are over 120 rupees.” He also highlighted that electric scooters, cars, and buses have emerged as excellent options in the current scenario.
