Skoda Auto Volkswagen India (SAVWIPL) offers four vehicles in the Indian market based on the MQB A0 IN platform, renowned for their solid engineering and performance. Among these, Virtus and Slavia are the two sedans utilizing this platform. Recently, Volkswagen introduced the Virtus GT Line version powered by a 1.0L TSI engine. This marks the first time Volkswagen has offered its prestigious GT badge on Virtus models equipped with the smaller 1.0L TSI engine, making the GT lineup more accessible. Prices start at Rs 14.07 lakh (Ex-showroom), and here’s what it brings to the table.

The Virtus GT lineup with the 1.5L EVO engine was a hit among enthusiasts and thrill-seekers. However, it was previously limited to top-tier trims, making GT variants more expensive. Now, Volkswagen has made the GT badge more affordable by launching a new GT Line with the 1.0L TSI engine, alongside the GT Plus Sport variant, which retains the 1.5L EVO engine. The GT Plus Sport starts from Rs 17.84 lakh (Ex-showroom) with a 6-speed manual gearbox, while the GT Line begins at Rs 14.07 lakh (Ex-showroom) with the same transmission.

As showcased in Yash9W’s video, the Virtus GT Line features several sporty elements to distinguish it from lower-tier variants. These include multiple black accents on the LED headlights, front grille, ORVMs, and design strips at both the front and rear.

The GT Line also boasts exclusive touches such as GT Line badges on the doors and boot lid, black VIRTUS lettering, a black spoiler, black window bar, and dark chrome door handles. Inside, the cabin follows a black theme, enhancing the car’s sporty vibe. A gloss black dashboard, red ambient lighting, and aluminium pedals further elevate the aesthetics.

Given its place higher up the range, the Virtus GT Line offers a wealth of features. These include an electric sunroof, a 10.1-inch infotainment system with wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay, an 8-inch digital cockpit, keyless entry with push-button start, an auto-dimming IRVM, rain-sensing wipers, auto headlights, and more.

Under the hood, the Virtus GT Line houses a 1.0L 3-cylinder turbo-petrol engine producing 114 bhp and 178 Nm of peak torque, paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
