Volkswagen has quietly implemented price reductions on specific variants of its Taigun midsize SUV lineup. The range now kicks off at Rs 11 lakh and extends up to Rs 18.90 lakh. Among the 21 available variants, including unique color options, prices have been lowered for five variants: the entry-level 1.0 TSI Comfortline, 1.5 TSI GT Plus Chrome, the 1.5 TSI GT Plus Chrome with additional features, 1.5 TSI GT Edge, and the 1.5 TSI GT Edge with added features.
The Taigun Comfortline, positioned as the entry-level option and equipped with the 115hp, 1.0-liter TSI engine and manual gearbox, sees a reduction of Rs 70,000, now priced at Rs 11.70 lakh.
This move positions the starting prices of the Taigun below competitors like the Toyota Hyryder (Rs 11.14 lakh) and Honda Elevate (Rs 11.69 lakh), matching the base price of the Hyundai Creta and Maruti Grand Vitara at Rs 11 lakh. However, the Kia Seltos remains priced even lower at Rs 10.90 lakh.
Meanwhile, the higher-spec Taigun GT Plus Chrome trim and its variant with additional features, which include power adjustable front seats, ambient lighting, a sub-woofer, and an amplifier, are now priced at Rs 18.69 lakh, down by Rs 75,000 and Rs 1.05 lakh, respectively. Volkswagen has also slashed prices of the current top-spec Taigun GT Edge by up to Rs 1.1 lakh, now offered at Rs 18.90 lakh across all versions of this variant.
The Taigun GT Plus Chrome and GT Edge variants are both powered by a 150hp, 1.5-liter turbo-petrol engine paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
Volkswagen is gearing up to significantly expand the Taigun range in the near future. Pricing details for the Taigun GT Edge Sport are yet to be disclosed, and the brand has initiated bookings for the new GT Line and GT Plus Sport trims.
