Vlogging in moving Car is now illegal says High Court, to issue challans if caught doing

The Kerala High Court has directed the Motor Vehicle Department to issue fines for vloggers recording from the driver’s cabin of moving vehicles and for illegal modifications like unauthorized LED lights and aftermarket exhaust systems. Justices Anil K. Narendran and Harisankar V. Menon noted that such modifications breach safety standards and contribute to pollution, while vlogging distracts drivers and endangers road safety. Violators may face disqualification of their driving licenses under Section 190(2) of the Motor Vehicles Act.

Additionally, the court addressed the misuse of government emblems on vehicles, regulated under the State Emblem of India (Prohibition of Improper Use) Act, 2005. Individuals falsely using these emblems to evade checks and tolls are targeted for strict action. Authorities are instructed to ensure compliance with safety, pollution, and noise standards for vehicles, including those imported via Carnet, with penalties including registration suspension. Enforcement departments are to collect video evidence from social media to prove violations.
