The Uttarakhand government has introduced a Mahindra Thar SUV to assist pilgrims visiting the Kedarnath Temple during this year’s Char Dham Yatra. Known for its robust off-road capabilities, the Thar was airlifted today by the Indian Air Force and delivered to Rudraprayag using a Chinook helicopter. The vehicle will aid elderly and ailing pilgrims on the challenging trek to Kedarnath. The Char Dham Yatra, which began on May 10, includes sacred Hindu sites Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath.
Two Mahindra Thar SUVs will be stationed at the Kedarnath base camp to facilitate pilgrim transportation. Upon its arrival, the Thar was warmly received by devotees and priests with a ceremonial puja and garlanding. The hard-top version of the Thar will be used for this initiative, providing much-needed support for those struggling with the trek.
