Paying traffic challans is about to get much simpler with the introduction of a new payment system. The Delhi government has issued a tender to develop a WhatsApp Business and API-based solution for traffic fine collection.
How the New WhatsApp-Based Payment System Works:
Owners will receive notifications of traffic violations along with the fine amount directly on WhatsApp, with messages available in both Hindi and English. By selecting the payment option in the message, users will be redirected to a payment gateway with options to pay through UPI apps like Google Pay, BHIM, and others. Once payment is completed, users will receive push notifications for each new challan and reminders for any unpaid challans.
Currently, traffic challan payments are processed through the government’s Parivahan e-challan website.
