Maruti Suzuki has been working on the WagonR EV since quite a long time. However, Maruti Suzuki made a clear statement that launching an EV in India would be unconventional due to high retail prices and low sales volume in contrary to Cars with ICE Engine.
A rebadged version of Maruti Suzuki WagonR from Toyota has been spotted without camouflage wraps, giving us a crystal clear idea of it’s production design and styling, will approach Indian Markets soon.
Exteriors
There’s no deny the overall silhouette and design layout of the hatchback draws great resemblance from the Outgoing Maruti Suzuki WagonR. However, the EV hatchback has got some aspects to differentiate. The front profile is completely different and flaunts EV traits which includes new bumper, new Tesla-like grille, repositioned headlamps (All-LED) and foglamps. Now because it’s an EV, there is less or simply no existence of Airdams.
At the rear, one can notice repositioning of reflectors and completely revamped bumper. The Hatchback Also flaunts blacked-out treatment for the Tail-lights so is the Bumper. The Test mule doesn’t bore an exhaust pipe, indicating it’s EV presence.
Launch
Firstly, Toyota is likely to name the EV WagonR as “Hyryder”. The EV is likely to go on sale by end of 2021 or early 2022 with an expected price of Rs. 9.5 lakhs (Ex-showroom, Pan-India) with a possible range of more than 120 Km on a single charge
