As the current third generation of the Toyota Fortuner nears the end of its lifecycle, there’s growing speculation and excitement surrounding its upcoming successor. Although Toyota hasn’t yet revealed any official design for the next-generation Fortuner, enthusiasts have been creating renderings to imagine its potential appearance. A recent rendering of the Toyota Fortuner shared by X by Torque India suggests a design reminiscent of a smaller Land Cruiser.
In this rendition, the Fortuner showcases a prominent grille with two thick horizontal elements, drawing inspiration from the design cues of the Land Cruiser. Additionally, observers may notice similarities with the Toyota Tacoma, particularly in the chunky headlights and rectangular air vents. Departing from the current generation’s sharp and sleek design language, this iteration presents a more rugged and boxy profile.
Along the side profile, squared-off wheel arches with thick black claddings enhance the SUV’s robust appearance. The alloy wheels also adopt a more rugged look compared to the current model, contributing to the overall homage to the iconic Land Cruiser design.
Moving to the rear, the design takes a significant departure from the current generation, featuring vertically stacked LED taillights, a rear spoiler, and a chunky rear bumper. Once again, the boxy design language takes precedence over the sleek lines of the current model.
Toyota recently introduced the Fortuner hybrid version in South Africa, with plans to launch it in India as well. This new hybrid variant retains the same 2.8-liter diesel engine paired with a mild hybrid system, delivering 201 bhp and 500 Nm of peak torque. Equipped with a 48V mild hybrid system, it’s anticipated that the company will continue to offer this hybrid powertrain with the next-generation model.
