Since 2020, Skoda has exclusively offered petrol engines for its cars in India. This might change with the upcoming Kodiaq, as the company is considering introducing a diesel variant of the next-generation model. Reports suggest that Skoda could import a limited number of these diesel variants via the CBU route, aiming to bring in about 100-200 units to cater to specific market demands.

Petr Janeba, Skoda India’s brand director, noted that while demand for diesel vehicles has significantly decreased in some states, there remains a notable interest in other regions. The new Kodiaq will initially launch with a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, similar to the current model, with the diesel variant potentially following later. The fourth-generation Kodiaq is expected to hit the Indian market by mid-2025.
