The Indian automotive market is gearing up for an exciting couple of months with several major brands, including Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Tata, Mahindra, Kia, MG, and BYD, preparing to launch new models in time for the festive season. Here’s a rundown of the upcoming vehicles:
1. Tata Curvv: Set to launch on September 2, the Tata Curvv with an internal combustion engine (IC) will hit the market. While it will share many features with its electric counterpart, the Curvv EV, there will be some design differences. The Curvv will be available with two petrol engines and one diesel engine, with both manual and automatic transmission options.
2. MG Windsor EV: JSW MG Motor India is set to unveil the Windsor EV on September 11. This midsize crossover combines elements of a sedan and an SUV and will be loaded with features like a 15.6-inch touchscreen, digital instrument cluster, panoramic glass roof, rear seats that recline up to 135 degrees, and Level 2 ADAS. The Windsor EV is expected to offer two battery options.
3. Hyundai Alcazar Facelift: The facelifted Hyundai Alcazar will have its prices announced on September 9. The updated model will feature design cues from the latest Creta, along with a refreshed interior and added features. The Alcazar will continue to be powered by the familiar 1.5L turbo petrol and 1.5L diesel engines.
4. Mahindra Thar Roxx 4×4: The five-door Mahindra Thar Roxx has received a warm reception, and bookings will open on October 3, with prices for the 4×4 variants being revealed on the same day. Customer deliveries are expected to begin from Dussehra on October 12 across India.
5. BYD Bao 5: The BYD Bao 5, a luxury off-road SUV, is expected to launch in October. This plug-in hybrid 4×4 comes equipped with a 1.5L turbo petrol engine, twin electric motors, and a 31.8 kWh LFP Blade battery pack, delivering a combined output of 677 hp and 760 Nm of torque. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 4.8 seconds, with a top speed of 180 kmph and an electric-only range of 125 km.
6. New Gen Kia Carnival & Kia EV9: Both the fourth-generation Kia Carnival and the EV9 flagship electric SUV will have their prices announced on October 3. Both models will be imported as completely built units (CBU). The new Carnival will be a significant departure from its predecessor, while the EV9 will be packed with advanced technology and is likely to be offered only in a fully-loaded all-wheel-drive (AWD) variant.
7. New Maruti Suzuki Dzire: The next-generation Maruti Suzuki Dzire is expected to launch soon, featuring a new 1.2L Z-series three-cylinder petrol engine, first introduced in the latest Swift. The Dzire will have a design and interior layout influenced by the Swift but with its own distinct touches.
