India is gearing up for a wave of new SUV launches in the coming weeks, with major brands like Mahindra, Nissan, Citroen, and Tata Motors unveiling their latest offerings. Here’s a detailed look at the upcoming models:
Mahindra Thar Roxx
Mahindra & Mahindra is set to introduce the five-door Thar Roxx on August 15, 2024. This new model features significant cosmetic updates compared to the standard three-door version, offering a more spacious interior for enhanced comfort. Engine options include a 1.5L diesel, a 2.2L diesel, and a 2.0L petrol, catering to a variety of preferences. The Thar Roxx will be equipped with a host of features, including a 10.25-inch touchscreen display, a digital instrument console, a panoramic sunroof, and automatic climate control, making it a highly anticipated addition to the SUV market.
Nissan X-Trail
The fourth generation Nissan X-Trail is set to make its debut in India, with reservations already open and prices expected to be announced on August 1, 2024. Imported via the CBU route, the X-Trail will be available in limited numbers. This seven-seater SUV comes equipped with a 1.5L three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine paired with a CVT. Following the X-Trail, Nissan also plans to launch the Aria electric SUV in the near future.
Citroen Basalt
Citroen is ready to take on the competition with the new Basalt, an SUV coupe that will rival the forthcoming Tata Curvv ICE. Powered by a 1.2L three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, the Basalt delivers 110 PS and 205 Nm of torque. Buyers can choose between a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission. The production version of the Basalt will be unveiled on August 2, with pricing details to follow in the subsequent weeks.
Tata Curvv EV & ICE
Tata Motors is preparing to launch two versions of the Curvv: an EV and an ICE variant. The Curvv EV is slated for release on August 7, 2024, with prices expected to start at around Rs. 16.5 lakh (ex-showroom). The electric version is anticipated to offer a range of over 600 km, with two battery options available. Shortly after the EV’s launch, the Curvv ICE, featuring a 1.2L petrol engine and a 1.5L diesel engine, will be introduced to the market. Tata Motors is also planning to launch the Harrier EV in early 2025, expanding their electric vehicle lineup.
