Mahindra & Mahindra is gearing up for an exciting year ahead, with plans to launch three new SUVs in the remaining months of 2024 in India. As part of its broader strategy, the company has outlined an ambitious goal of introducing 23 new vehicles before the decade’s end, expanding its footprint across various segments, including electric vehicles (EVs), while bolstering its existing lineup of internal combustion engine (ICE) SUVs to capture a larger market share.
1. Mahindra XUV.e8:
Scheduled for a December 2024 debut, the Mahindra XUV.e8 is an electric SUV modeled after the XUV700. It will showcase a design inspired by its conceptual version and feature a high-tech interior with a triple-screen layout and a new two-spoke steering wheel. Built on the INGLO architecture, the XUV.e8 is anticipated to offer a driving range of over 450 km, positioning it as Mahindra’s flagship electric SUV upon release.
2. 5-Door Mahindra Thar:
Expected to launch around August this year, the five-door Mahindra Thar will be based on an extended version of the current three-door’s ladder frame chassis. This model will provide more space and additional features while retaining its renowned off-road capabilities. It will continue to offer 2.2L diesel, 1.5L diesel, and 2.0L petrol engines with both manual and automatic transmission options. Spy images suggest the Thar Armada will include a 10.25-inch touchscreen display with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a sunroof, electrically operated and ventilated front seats, automatic AC, rear AC vents, reading lamps for rear passengers, six airbags as standard, ADAS, and a 360-degree camera system.
3. Mahindra XUV 3X0 EV:
Despite recent speculations settling down after the XUV 3XO’s launch, Mahindra is likely to unveil an electric variant of this model soon, placing it below the XUV400 in the product lineup. This EV is projected to offer a driving range of over 350 km, competing directly with the base models of the Nexon EV. However, official confirmation is still pending.
