The Toyota Fortuner has long enjoyed popularity in the Indian market. However, competition is heating up with Nissan introducing a new rival, and Skoda India announcing the arrival of the next-gen Kodiaq SUV.
Design
The upcoming Skoda Kodiaq features significant design updates, including a revamped front with a new grille, headlights, and bumpers. At the back, a new connected LED tail lamp spans the width of the SUV, and 20-inch aero-styled alloy wheels have been added. The vehicle is also 66mm longer, offering increased interior space and improved third-row legroom.
Features
The Skoda Kodiaq boasts more advanced features than the Toyota Fortuner. It includes a 13-inch floating touchscreen, dual-tone black-brown leather upholstery, a large digital instrument cluster, rotary AC controls, three-zone climate control, a multifunctional two-spoke steering wheel, and dual wireless mobile chargers with cooling.
Powertrain
The Kodiaq retains its 2.0-litre TSI petrol engine, delivering 190 bhp and 320 Nm of torque, paired with a 7-speed DSG gearbox. It also continues to offer a selectable 4X4 system.
Launch & Pricing
The international launch of the new Skoda Kodiaq took place in late 2023, but its Indian debut is set for mid-2025. The SUV will be assembled locally at Skoda’s Maharashtra plant, with prices ranging from Rs 47 lakh to Rs 52 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
