This is the most value for money Variant (MX3) of Thar Roxx, Check details

Mahindra Thar Roxx MX3

Mahindra discreetly showcased 150 media vehicles in Kochi, most of which were top-spec AX7L variants. Rushlane had the opportunity to test one during the media drive and shared positive feedback. Although the spotlight was on these high-end models, a mid-spec Thar Roxx MX3 variant was also part of the event. A recent video by Motoroids sheds light on this version, which is priced between ₹14.99 lakh and ₹17.49 lakh (ex-showroom). Let’s explore what the MX3 offers and why it could become a popular choice in the Thar Roxx lineup.

Mahindra Thar Roxx MX3: Design and Features

Mahindra has made significant strides in transforming the Thar from a basic off-roader into a modern SUV that can compete with C-segment crossovers in terms of features and comfort. While much of the focus has been on the top-spec AX7L, there’s limited information about the lower-spec versions. Before hitting dealerships, a walkaround video of the mid-spec MX3 variant from the Kochi media drive has emerged, offering insights into its features.

Externally, the MX3 doesn’t show many noticeable downgrades, but a few features have been omitted to position it below the AX3L, MX5, AX5L, and AX7L trims. The MX3 lacks fog lights and front cameras. Instead of alloy wheels, it comes with 18-inch black steel wheels with gray hub caps. The ORVMs don’t have cameras, so it misses out on the 360-degree camera and blind-view monitor features. Additionally, the windshield-mounted camera for Level-2 ADAS is absent.

Inside, the MX3 doesn’t feature leatherette upholstery or a fully digital instrument cluster. The seats come with black fabric upholstery, and the driver’s seat is manually adjustable. There’s no sunroof, and the interior lighting setup is different from the higher variants. However, the MX3 does include a stylish spare wheel cover.

Key Features of the Thar Roxx MX3

Despite being a mid-spec variant priced at ₹17.99 lakh (ex-showroom), the Thar Roxx MX3 comes equipped with several essential features. These include LED projector headlights, LED tail lights, a side step, and an internally operated fuel filler door.

Inside, the MX3 is fitted with a 10.2-inch free-standing touchscreen infotainment system supporting wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, steering-mounted controls, cruise control, a bezel-less auto-dimming IRVM, front and rear armrests, adjustable headrests, and rear AC vents.

Engine and Powertrain Options

The MX3 is available in three configurations, depending on the powertrain. It can be equipped with a 2.2-liter turbo diesel engine paired with either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission, or a 2.0-liter turbo petrol engine with an automatic gearbox. The MX3 is only offered with a rear-wheel-drive (RWD) layout.
