The electric SUV market in India is poised for substantial activity in 2024, with notable releases from manufacturers like Hyundai, Tata, Mahindra, Kia, and MG. These upcoming models are expected to feature cutting-edge technology and advanced equipment. Here’s an overview of what’s anticipated:
1. Hyundai Creta EV:
Hyundai is likely to unveil the electric version of the Creta by the end of this year or early 2025. The Creta EV is expected to be equipped with a battery pack from LG Chem and an electric motor similar to the base-spec Kona Electric. It should offer a driving range of over 450 km on a single charge, competing with the Tata Curvv EV, Maruti Suzuki eVX, and Mahindra XUV400.
2. Tata Curvv EV:
Tata is set to launch the electric variant of the Curvv in the coming months. This midsize electric SUV coupe is anticipated to deliver a range exceeding 500 km per charge, featuring DC fast charging and Vehicle-to-Load capability. Built on the Acti.ev platform, the five-seater will include a 12.3-inch touchscreen, an all-digital cluster, ADAS, capacitive controls, a 360-degree camera, and more.
3. MG Cloud EV:
MG plans to launch a five-seater electric crossover based on the Wuling Cloud EV before the end of this year. Combining the practicality and spaciousness of a traditional MPV with a length of 4.3 meters, this model is expected to utilize a 37.9 kWh or 50.6 kWh battery pack similar to the Cloud EV.
4. Mahindra XUV.e8:
Mahindra has a tentative launch timeline for the XUV.e8 set for December 2024, with a potential market debut in early 2025 if delayed. Patent filings suggest it will feature a new two-spoke steering wheel and a triple screen layout, with a design reminiscent of the XUV700 concept. It is expected to offer a range of over 450 km.

5. Kia EV9:
Kia will introduce the EV9 in late 2024 or early 2025 as a fully imported model. Internationally, this seven-seater SUV claims a range of 541 km based on the WLTP cycle. Built on the E-GMP skateboard platform, the EV9 will be packed with various features inside the cabin.
