Recent reports indicate that Tesla is exploring potential sites to establish its proposed electric vehicle (EV) factory in India. Speculation suggests that the US-based EV manufacturer might collaborate with Reliance Industries for this venture.
According to these reports, Tesla is currently in discussions with Reliance Industries regarding the possibility of forming a joint venture to construct a manufacturing facility in India. However, these discussions are reportedly at an early stage.
Several states, including Maharashtra and Gujarat, have purportedly put forth enticing land proposals to Tesla for its manufacturing center. Additionally, the company is said to be engaging in talks with the Telangana government.
Tesla intends to invest $2-3 billion in establishing an electric vehicle manufacturing plant in India, with an estimated maximum capacity of 500,000 units per year. There is also speculation that the carmaker might contemplate setting up its own battery plant in the future.
