Tata Motors is set to launch the highly anticipated Nexon CNG, which was first revealed as a concept at the Bharat Mobility Show in January. The Nexon CNG will be introduced shortly after the petrol and diesel versions of the Curvv coupe-SUV, which are scheduled to launch on September 2.
Key Highlights of the Tata Nexon CNG:
First Turbo-CNG Vehicle in India: The Nexon CNG will feature a 1.2-liter turbocharged 3-cylinder engine, making it the first CNG vehicle in India with a turbocharged engine.
Gearbox Options: While the concept version at the Bharat Mobility Show showcased a 5-speed manual transmission, sources indicate that Tata Motors will also offer an AMT (Automated Manual Transmission) option in the Nexon CNG lineup.
Multiple Variants Available: The Nexon CNG will be available in several variants, catering to different customer preferences.
Design and Features: The exterior, interior, and equipment list of the Nexon CNG will largely mirror the standard petrol and diesel models. However, there might be some minor mechanical adjustments to the suspension to accommodate the CNG system, along with distinctive iCNG badges.
Expanding Tata’s CNG-AMT Offerings: With the addition of an AMT gearbox, the Nexon will become Tata’s third model to offer a CNG-AMT combination, following the Tigor and Tiago.
Comprehensive Powertrain Options: The Nexon will remain one of the few models in India to offer a wide range of powertrain options, including CNG, petrol, diesel, and electric variants.
The Tata Nexon CNG will directly compete with the Maruti Suzuki Brezza CNG in the Indian market, offering buyers an alternative in the growing CNG segment.
