Last year, Tata unveiled the updated Nexon SUV, keeping its turbo-petrol and diesel engine choices unchanged. However, at the recent Bharat Mobility Expo, Tata teased a CNG variant of the compact SUV, suggesting its imminent release. The Tata Nexon CNG will be a pioneer in the Indian market, offering CNG with a turbo-petrol engine, utilizing the same 1.2-litre engine as the regular version but with slightly lower power output. Transmission options will include a 5-speed manual and possibly an AMT, akin to the Tiago and Tigor CNG models.
Details regarding the performance and mileage of the Nexon CNG are yet to be revealed. It remains uncertain if the CNG option will be available in the top variant, but if so, it will likely become the most feature-rich CNG SUV available. Expect amenities such as a sizable touchscreen infotainment system, digital driver display, automatic climate control, cruise control, wireless phone charging, ventilated front seats, and a sunroof. Safety features might include multiple airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, TPMS, ISOFIX anchors, and a 360-degree camera with a blind-view monitor.

The Nexon CNG is anticipated to be priced around Rs 1 lakh higher than its corresponding petrol-manual variant, placing it in direct competition with the CNG versions of the Maruti Brezza. Apart from that, the regular Nexon competes with models like the Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV300, Nissan Magnite, and Renault Kiger. Once launched, the Nexon CNG will offer consumers a fuel-efficient and environmentally friendly option in the subcompact SUV segment.
