Skoda Auto India’s brand director, Petr Janeba, has announced the return of two iconic models, the Superb and the new Octavia. They plan to cater to two strategic areas in India: one with locally made cars, such as the Kushaq and Slavia from the Pune factory, and the other with parts and components assembled locally, including the Octavia and Superb from the Aurangabad plant.
Initially, both the Superb and the Octavia will be reintroduced as full imports. The focus will be on relaunching the previous-generation Superb, expected to arrive in showrooms in the next few months. This sedan is likely to come in the luxurious Laurent and Klement trim, meeting BS6 Phase 2 compliance with a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine generating 190hp and 320Nm torque, coupled with a 7-speed DSG twin-clutch gearbox. However, its premium pricing, starting at around Rs 43 lakh, might deter some customers.

Skoda acknowledges the loyalty of around 25,000 Superb customers in India who have been awaiting its return. Although the imported Superb might be pricier, it aims to fulfill the desires of these loyal customers. The all-new fourth-gen Superb is expected to follow suit later, considering global availability, right-hand drive and regulatory requirements. The company’s strategy reflects a balance between catering to local demands and fulfilling the aspirations of loyal customers.
