Scorpio-N Pickup spied testing for the first time in India, launch soon

A Mahindra Scorpio N pickup truck was recently spotted testing in Manali, Himachal Pradesh. This test model seems to be a nearly production-ready version of the Mahindra Global Pik Up concept that was unveiled in 2023. At that time, Mahindra announced that the Global Pik Up concept would transition into a production model built on a “next-generation ladder-frame” chassis, with a launch anticipated in 2025.

Scorpio N Pickup: Design Highlights

The pickup truck shares its design elements with the Scorpio N SUV, featuring a single-cab layout. Although only the side profile and front end are visible in the photos, the unique headlight design, LED signature, and alloy wheels unmistakably mark it as a Scorpio N variant. In contrast to the dual-cab configuration of the Global Pik Up concept, this test model showcases a single-cab setup with an extended bed and a notably large rear overhang. The front end closely resembles that of the Scorpio N SUV, differing from the Global Pik Up concept, which sported a distinctive grille and a simplified bumper with a prominent tow hook.

Scorpio N Pickup: Powertrain Options

The Scorpio N pickup is expected to be equipped with the same 2.2-litre turbo-diesel engine found in the Scorpio N SUV, producing 175hp and up to 400Nm of torque. It will likely come with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. Given its practical design, the pickup is anticipated to include four-wheel drive with shift-on-the-fly capabilities and various drive modes, such as Normal, Grass-Gravel-Snow, Mud-Rut, and Sand.

Market Availability

While the precise launch date for the Scorpio N pickup is still uncertain, it is unlikely to debut in India in the near future. Mahindra intends to first export the vehicle to South Africa and may consider launching it in India later, depending on the market’s response.
