Last week, car enthusiasts were shocked when a Rolls-Royce Ghost was seen stranded on a waterlogged street in Delhi. The incident, captured on video by Instagram user Abhishek Bhai (@donia_vlogs97), shows the luxurious black Ghost with its hazard lights blinking, unable to navigate the flood waters. Meanwhile, smaller and less expensive vehicles, like the Maruti Suzuki, managed to pass through the flood with ease.
The older model Ghost, which was launched around 2009-2010 and priced at approximately ₹2.5 crore, seemed to have succumbed to Delhi’s heavy monsoon flooding. Many viewers speculated that the car’s advanced electronics might have initiated a safety shutdown to protect its components from water damage, rendering the vehicle immobile.
Today, the current generation Rolls-Royce Ghost, priced between ₹6.95 crore and ₹7.95 crore, boasts a powerful 6.75-litre twin-turbo V12 engine, producing 571 bhp and 850 Nm of torque. Paired with a ZF 8-speed automatic transmission, it accelerates from 0-100 km/h in just 4.8 seconds. Despite its high-performance specs and luxury features, such as a digital driver display and a 1300W audio system, the Ghost faces stiff competition from other ultra-luxury sedans like the Bentley Flying Spur and the Mercedes-Benz S-Class.
