Tata Motors recently introduced the Punch EV as part of its Acti.ev platform, emphasizing its commitment to India’s electric vehicle revolution. However, a new owner, Ranjit Mehta, encountered issues just three days after taking delivery of the Tata Punch EV.
Mehta reported problems with the brakes and a malfunctioning gearbox, illustrating the unresponsiveness of the gear dial and the motor’s continued acceleration even with the brake fully pressed.
Mehta claimed that his Punch EV skipped the essential Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI), acknowledged by the dealership. Tata Motors agreed to replace the faulty vehicle under warranty, but the replacement exhibited the same motor issue. Mehta also alleged being charged for the replacement vehicle within the warranty period.
Tata Motors responded on social media, pledging to check with their team and provide an update. This incident raises concerns among current owners and potential buyers regarding the cause of the problems and the company’s plans for resolution.
