The Kerala Department of Motor Vehicles has launched a child safety measure in the wake of the tragic death of a child due to strangulation of an airbag in Kerala.
The campaign will be rolled out gradually through social media awareness in October, followed by driver warnings and stricter enforcement in December.
The MVD stressed that children should not sit in the front, especially on a parent’s lap, as airbags can be fatal. Child restraint systems (CRS) and rear seats are mandated by law to prevent such accidents.
