BMW is reportedly gearing up to launch the eighth-generation 5 Series in the Indian market during the upcoming festive season, according to recent media reports. The sedan will be unveiled in its extended-wheelbase version and will introduce an all-electric powertrain option. The new-gen 5 Series, which made its global debut last year, showcases increased dimensions compared to its predecessor, offering a length of 5,060 mm, width of 1,900 mm, and height of 1,515 mm, with a wheelbase of 2,995 mm. The long-wheelbase variant takes it a step further with measurements of 5,175 mm in length, 1,900 mm in width, 1,520 mm in height, and a wheelbase of 3,105 mm.

In terms of design and features, the updated 5 Series boasts a sleek exterior along with a high-tech interior. The sedan incorporates a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The long-wheelbase variant elevates the luxury quotient with reclining rear seats, 4-zone automatic climate control, and a rear seat entertainment package featuring a substantial 31.1-inch screen. These enhancements contribute to a more sophisticated and comfortable driving experience.

For the Indian market, BMW is expected to offer the 5 Series LWB with versatile engine options, including a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol and diesel, both equipped with a mild-hybrid system and an 8-speed automatic transmission. Additionally, there is anticipation surrounding the introduction of the i5 eDrive40 variant, which comes with an 81.2 kWh battery offering an impressive maximum range of 582 km on a single charge. This move reflects BMW’s commitment to providing a diverse range of powertrains to cater to different customer preferences in the evolving automotive landscape.
