It’s no surprise that Indian enthusiast have been demanding a complete Next-Gen Version for Vento as well as Polo for a long time now. This demand grew even further when VW started selling the Next-Gen Duos in Global Markets.
The Volkswagen Virtus Sedan is going to be a replacement of 10 years running name plate, Vento. The Mid-size Sedan has been spotted testing on our Indian Roads multiple times. Below we have listed out some important aspects one must know about the Virtus.
1. Bigger than Vento
The VW Virtus will be based on heavily localized MQB AO Platform which is marginally bigger than current platform used in outgoing Vento. Dimensionally, the Virtus will be 4482mm (+92 mm) Longer, 1751mm (+52) wider and 1472mm (5mm) Longer along with 98mm Longer wheelbase than the present Vento Indicating liberation in Cabin Space upto a good extent.
2. Better Exterior Styling
In terms of Exterior, the Next-Gen Vento or Virtus will be complete revamped over the Present Vento. This sedan is based on the new Polo, it was developed especially for markets like Brazil. The grille, front bumper, headlights and hood are being utterly borrowed from the Latest-Gen polo.
The Virtus also features sharp shoulder lines and sloping roof line similar to it’s drop dead gorgeous elder sibling, Volkswagen Arteon. At the Rear, The Mid-size sedan features very precise sharp edges and creases, it has got wraparound tail-lights similar to the VW Jetta and a chrome plated rear bumper.
3. Features and equipment
In Global Market, the Virtus is being offered with numerous features and tech. The Virtus will get a fully-digital instrument cluster, 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, parking camera, cruise control, keyless entry etc. Speaking on some highlighted features, Well for starters VW might bring highly advanced assistance systems, a digital cockpit (Active Info Display), driver fatigue alert and a high degree of connectivity (for example via App-Connect).
4. Engine and Transmission
The upcoming Vento is expected to be offered with a 1L turbo-petrol Motor (130 Ps/200 Nm) which will come mated to a 6-speed torque-converter Gearbox along with again a 1.5L turbo petrol-motor (150 Ps/250 Nm) mated to a 7-speed DCT Gearbox.
5. Launch, Pricing and Rivals
First of all, it’s certainly unclear whether the ‘Virtus’ badge would be carried forward or not. VW will unveil the Virtus sedan in India this year. The Virtus/Vento is expected to hit Indian roads by the end of 2021 or early 2022, once launched will compete against the likes of Honda city, Hyundai Verna and MS Ciaz etc
