For vehicles with up to eight passengers, the speed limit has been raised to 100 km/h on flat areas but reduced to 60 km/h in ghat sections. Vehicles carrying nine or more passengers will have a speed limit of 80 km/h on flat areas and 40 km/h in ghat sections. Similarly, goods vehicles will adhere to a speed limit of 80 km/h on flat areas and 40 km/h in ghat sections. To ensure compliance, speed cameras will be installed along the expressway.
These changes aim to improve safety, especially in challenging ghat sections where lower speeds are crucial for vehicle control. The adjustments in speed limits cater to different vehicle types and road conditions, with the collaboration of various stakeholders including the State Highway Police, Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC), and IRB Infra Development, contributing to the decision-making process.
