JSW MG Motor India has achieved a significant milestone by launching the Windsor EV, which has overtaken the Tata Nexon EV as India’s best-selling electric car. In October alone, MG sold 3,116 units of the Windsor EV, accounting for 30% of total EV sales. This success helped MG achieve record monthly sales of 7,045 units in October, with EVs making up 70% of its total sales.
The Windsor EV’s popularity can largely be attributed to its competitive pricing, starting at Rs 9.99 lakh with MG’s Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) program. This program lowers upfront costs by allowing owners to pay Rs 3.5 per km instead of buying the battery outright. For buyers who prefer to own the battery, the price starts at Rs 13.5 lakh.
MG also offers additional benefits, including a lifetime battery warranty for the first owner, a year of free public charging, and a 60% buyback option after three years or 45,000 km. Powered by a 136 hp motor and a 38 kWh battery, the Windsor EV delivers a claimed range of 331 km per charge, solidifying its appeal against competitors like the Tata Nexon EV.
