Mercedes-Benz is gearing up to launch facelifts for the Second-gen GLA and the second-gen GLE Coupe in India on January 31, 2024. These refreshed models, set to debut in New Delhi, mark the German luxury brand’s first offerings for the year.
The GLA facelift is expected in 200 and 220d variants, while the GLE Coupe will exclusively come in the AMG-spec 53 guise. Initial insights into the GLA facelift from May 2023 reveal substantial design changes primarily concentrated at the nose, incorporating LED lighting throughout and color-matched wheel arches, replacing the black plastic on the outgoing model. Minor cabin changes include an updated MBUX infotainment system, interior ambient lighting, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The existing 163hp, 1.3-liter turbo-petrol, and 190hp, 2.0-liter diesel engines are likely to remain unchanged. Anticipated prices for the GLA facelift fall in the range of Rs 45 lakh to Rs 49 lakh, ex-showroom, India. The potential arrival of the performance-oriented AMG-badged GLA 35 4Matic is yet to be confirmed but is expected at a later date.
Mercedes-Benz revealed the refreshed GLE Coupe nearly 11 months ago, alongside its standard SUV sibling, which launched in India at the beginning of November 2023. While the front-ends of the GLE and GLE Coupe are nearly identical, the distinctive swooping roofline of the SUV-coupe is visible at the side and rear. The GLE Coupe for India will be exclusively available in the hardcore AMG form, featuring a 53 moniker.
Expected to be powered by a 435hp, 3.0-liter turbo-petrol engine with a 48V mild-hybrid assist adding 22hp, the GLE Coupe is likely to retain the 9-speed automatic and 4Matic AWD system, maintaining a 0-100kph time of 5.3 seconds, similar to the pre-facelift model. Anticipated prices for the Mercedes-AMG GLE 53 Coupe 4Matic+ hover around Rs 1.3 crore, ex-showroom, India.
