Maruti Suzuki is likely to introduce 1.5L BS6-compliant diesel engine in XL6 followed by other NEXA lineup Cars in January 2022, Maruti Suzuki is working on this Diesel Engine since more than 1 year at it’s Manesar and Haryana Plant.
As per latest reports emerging on the internet, Maruti Suzuki is expected to become all-set with it’s diesel engine portofolio by 2022 and the first car or rather MPV to receive the Oil-burner is going to be the XL6. It must be taken into consideration that Maruti Suzuki is not offering diesel engine in any of it’s offering due to incompliance with the BS6 emission norms which came into effect in April 2020.
Now Since Market is shifting to petrol engines, the SUV segment still sees diesel engines holding slightly higher share in comparison to petrol counterparts. Speaking of which Maruti Suzuki’s only SUV offering (Vitara Brezza) is offered exclusively in Petrol engine which gives it’s primary competitors (Sonet and Venue) major advantage in terms of the overall sales figures.
The 1.5L BS6 diesel Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza is likely to debut at the 2022 Auto Expo arriving in the next February. Reportedly, The Ciaz will also get the same diesel mill. As per the report, The oil-burner will also be carried forwarded to the rebadged Toyota models
