Mahindra has sanctioned it’s first ever SUV-coupe which was being showcased as a concept in 2016 with the name XUV aero. The production version of this concept is likely to be called as XUV900
Mahindra has been assessing the SUV-coupe for Indian Market for quite a long period of time. However, Mahindra was hesitant to enter in this new era to manufacture one for India, which would require a least capacity of 2000 units each month at a price of Rs. 20 lakhs.
To be based on XUV700
While the 2016 XUV Aero concept had great resemblance with the current XUV500, the XUV900 is expected to share it’s underpinnings from XUV700. Also some body panels like, front fenders, hood and front doors are expected to be directly borrowed from the upcoming XUV700. While The concept flaunted suicide doors, it’s unlikely to make into production spec instead will come equipped with conventional door steup.
Premium than XUV700
On interiors front, the overall design and layout of the dashboard along with seats are likely to be carried over. Since Mahindra wants to position the XUV900 coupe above XUV700, the SUV-coupe is expected to get more premium interiors and features than the XUV700.
Engine and Transmission
