Mahindra’s upcoming launches has been delayed remarkably due to the pandemic across the nation. Nevertheless, the Indian Automaker recently revealed it’s future plan wherein Mahindra will launch as many as 9 products (Including EV’s) by 2026.
Mahindra has been assessing the SUV-coupe for Indian Market for quite a long period of time. However, Mahindra was hesitant to enter in this new era to manufacture one for India, which would require a least capacity of 2000 units each month at a price of Rs. 20 lakhs.
Exteriors
Speaking on the render, The Front profile is significantly similar to the XUV700 which includes boomerang shaped LED-DRL’s, Tiger-Claw’s grille, faux skid plates and bulbous nose. Moreover, some body panels like, front fenders, hood and front doors are expected to be directly borrowed from the upcoming XUV700. While The concept flaunted suicide doors, it’s unlikely to make into production spec instead will come equipped with conventional door setup.
Interior and features
On interiors front, the overall design and layout of the dashboard along with seats are likely to be carried over. Since Mahindra wants to position the XUV900 coupe above XUV700, the SUV-coupe is expected to get more premium interiors and features than the XUV700. However, the overall colour scheme for the dashboard is expected to be different than the XUV700.
On the equipment front, the Coupe will be packed by features like fully-digital Driver’s display, ventilated front seats, connected car tech, Electronic parking brake, dual-zone A/C, powered-seats, hill-hold control, multiple drive modes, Panoramic sunroof and memory seats, ADAS (Advanced Driver’s assistance system) which includes safety features like adaptive cruise control, autonomous parking assist, emergency breaking assist and lane departure warning.
Engine and Transmission
The XUV900 will borrow the same engine options from XUV700. A new 2.0L turbo-diesel engine belting out 185 BHP of Power and a new 2.0L turbo-petrol belting out 190 BHP of power mated to either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed Auto Gearbox.
India Launch
According to Sources XUV900 (W601) is still on ‘Yet-to-Launch’ Cards and is unlikely to be seen in showrooms before 2024. The SUV-coupe Likely to be designed in Mahindra Automotive design Europe (MADE) studio.
