In recent months, there have been several instances where owners of the Mahindra XUV700 have demonstrated the effectiveness of the SUV’s Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). However, recent videos, such as one shared on Reddit, emphasize the genuine importance of these features. In the video, the automatic emergency braking system of the Mahindra XUV700 is showcased, preventing a potential collision on a highway and underscoring the invaluable nature of this capability.
The video depicts the XUV700 traveling at a standard speed on the highway, with a small goods truck on the left side and a Hyundai Santro ahead. As the clip progresses, the XUV700 comes dangerously close to the Santro, but the automatic emergency braking feature of the ADAS engages, avoiding a collision through sudden braking. Contrary to initial assumptions blaming the Santro driver for sudden braking, it becomes clear that they too braked to prevent a collision.
The root cause of the situation was a Hyundai Grand i10 Nios owner ahead of the Santro, who abruptly halted in the middle of the highway after missing a left exit. This irresponsible action had the potential to cause a significant pileup, considering the congested state of the highway as depicted in the video. The incident reportedly occurred on the NICE expressway in Karnataka, where the owner missed the Mysore road exit.
For those who may not be familiar, the Mahindra XUV700 stands out as one of the pioneering SUVs in India to offer a comprehensive suite of ADAS features. With an advanced Level 2 ADAS, the XUV700 boasts an impressive array of features, including adaptive cruise control, high beam assist, traffic sign recognition, automatic emergency braking, front collision warning, lane keep assist, smart pilot assist, lane departure warning, and a driver drowsiness system.
