Mahindra is gearing up to launch several new electric vehicles (EVs) in the near future, starting with the XUV700 Electric, possibly named the XUV.e8. Unlike Tata Motors, which dominates the entry-level EV segment, Mahindra aims to make its mark in the premium EV space. The XUV700 EV will share much of its body paneling with the existing ICE-based XUV700 to streamline development and production costs, but it will feature a distinct front fascia with a full-width LED light bar, a closed-off grille, and redesigned headlamps.
Despite being only slightly larger than the ICE XUV700, the XUV.e8 will offer enhanced features and design elements. Alongside its familiar side profile, expect new aerodynamic alloy wheels, a refreshed rear bumper, and EV-specific badging with copper-colored accents. Inside, the XUV.e8 will boast segment-first features like a triple integrated screen setup spanning the dashboard width, front and rear ventilated seats, a panoramic sunroof, premium sound system, and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) alongside comprehensive connected car technology.
The Mahindra XUV.e8 will come in base variants equipped with a 60-kWh battery pack and a single motor powering the front wheels, while higher-spec variants will feature all-wheel drive with an 80-kWh battery pack and a dual-motor setup. With an expected range of 450 to 500 kilometers and both AC and DC fast charging options available, the XUV.e8 promises improved performance compared to its ICE counterpart, ensuring Mahindra’s strong entry into the premium EV market.
