The Mahindra Thar ROXX, launched on August 15, 2024, has quickly gained immense popularity. Demand surged when Mahindra began accepting bookings on October 3, resulting in a remarkable 1.76 lakh units booked within the first hour. This overwhelming demand has driven up waiting times significantly, with recent estimates showing that some customers may have to wait up to 1.5 years, with deliveries expected around May 2026.
Many ROXX buyers have shared similar experiences online, indicating that extended wait times are becoming the norm. Mahindra produces the Thar at its Nashik facility, which has a total monthly output of 9,500 Thars, split between 6,500 ROXX units and 3,000 of the 3-door variant.

Even with an assumed initial reserve of around 30,000 units, meeting the surge in demand for 1.76 lakh bookings is a considerable challenge. With bookings still rising, it was anticipated that waiting periods could extend to a year or more, especially if the initial supply couldn’t keep up.
