Mahindra has revealed the ARAI-certified fuel efficiency figures for the newly launched 5-door Thar ROXX. This version of the Thar is available with two engine choices: a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol and a 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel, both mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission. These engines are shared with other Mahindra models like the Scorpio-N, XUV700, and the 3-door Thar, although they are tuned differently for each vehicle.
The 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine in the Thar ROXX produces 175 bhp and 380 Nm of torque, and it is available in variants such as MX1, MX3, MX5, and AX7 L. The manual variant of this engine offers an ARAI-certified mileage of 12.40 km/l, slightly lower than the 12.7 km/l of the Scorpio-N Petrol. The 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine comes in two states of tune: 152 bhp/330 Nm for the 4×2 variants and 173 bhp/370 Nm for the 4×4 variants. The diesel engine delivers a mileage of 15.20 km/l, which is also slightly less than the Scorpio-N Diesel’s 15.42 km/l.
The Thar ROXX 4×2 is priced between Rs 12.99 lakh and Rs 20.49 lakh (ex-showroom), while prices for the 4×4 variants are yet to be announced but are expected to be above Rs 25 lakh. The 5-door Thar ROXX features a more practical design than the 3-door version, with updates like a new grille, LED projector headlamps, redesigned taillamps, an angular C-pillar, and additional doors. The SUV is equipped with numerous features, including dual 10.25-inch screens, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a panoramic sunroof, Harman Kardon audio, and Level 2 ADAS. It competes directly with the Force Gurkha 5-door and Maruti Suzuki Jimny in the Indian market, offering a broader range of powertrain options.
