Mahindra Automotive has recently introduced the all-new Thar Roxx five-door SUV, available in seven color options: Tango Red, Stealth Black, Everest White, Deep Forest, Nebula Blue, Battleship Grey, and Burnt Sienna. Alongside these, a new digital rendering of the SUV in a rugged Desert Storm color has surfaced online.
The Desert Edition of the Thar Roxx, created by SRK Designs and shared on YouTube, presents a realistic take on how this SUV would appear in a Desert Storm shade. The rendering showcases the side profile of the Thar Roxx, featuring body panels finished in a metallic sand color with a golden hue, giving it an eye-catching look. The cladding is kept in matte black, enhancing the vehicle’s rugged appeal. The 19-inch alloy wheels are rendered in gunmetal grey, complementing the overall aesthetic. The roof remains black, consistent with the stock Thar Roxx design. This Desert Edition rendering resembles the Thar three-door’s Earth Edition, which also became popular for its unique golden color.
Mixed Reactions to the Thar Roxx Design
The introduction of the Thar Roxx has sparked diverse opinions regarding its design. While some enthusiasts welcomed the fresh look, others were not impressed. A recent incident highlighted this divide when an Instagram user harshly criticized Mahindra’s chief designer, Pratap Bose, for what they deemed a disappointing design choice. The user even suggested that Mahindra should replace Bose due to dissatisfaction with the SUV’s appearance.
Design is inherently subjective, and preferences can vary widely. What appeals to one person may not resonate with another. The initial negative response to the Thar Roxx mirrors the launch of the second-generation Hyundai Creta, which faced criticism at first but later became a top-seller. Over time, people may grow more accustomed to the Thar Roxx’s design, potentially leading to wider acceptance.
Mahindra’s decision to adopt this unique design is likely strategic, especially given the SUV’s resemblance to the Jeep Wrangler. As Mahindra aims to market the Thar Roxx internationally, a design too similar to the Wrangler could result in legal issues. The distinctive C-pillar and triangular rear windows set the Thar Roxx apart, allowing Mahindra to position it globally without the risk of lawsuits.
