Mahindra has stirred up excitement in the automotive industry with the unveiling of the Thar Roxx 4WD, particularly its most affordable variant, the MX5 Diesel MT 4WD, priced at Rs 18.75 lakh (ex-showroom). This new addition is a testament to Mahindra’s success in reviving the lifestyle SUV segment, which was nearly dormant before the launch of the Thar in 2020.
The 2024 Thar Roxx is larger, comes with more features, and reflects inflation in its pricing. The base 4WD model comes with rear disc brakes and 18-inch A/T tires, in contrast to the 2WD version’s rear drum brakes and H/T tires, offering a more robust driving experience.
Inside, the Thar Roxx MX5 Diesel MT 4WD is far from basic, despite being the entry-level 4WD variant. It boasts a leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear levers, a stylish Ivory White and Black interior, and features such as auto-dimming IRVM, automatic headlights, rain-sensing wipers, and cruise control.
It also includes modern conveniences like a 10.2-inch infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, rear AC vents, and a single-pane sunroof. However, the manual AC system might be a drawback for some buyers. The Thar Roxx 4WD is powered by a D22 diesel engine, with higher 4WD variants offering more features and powertrain options.
