Mahindra thar 5-door to offer acres of space, new spyshots revealed

The much-anticipated Mahindra Thar 5-Door is gearing up for its launch on August 15, 2024. Competing against the new 2024 Force Gurkha 5-Door and Maruti Suzuki Jimny, the Thar 5-Door aims to offer enhanced practicality and serve as a genuine alternative to typical monocoque compact SUVs. Ahead of its official release, interior spy shots have surfaced, revealing significant upgrades.

Automotive enthusiast Anurag Salpe captured these spy shots near Sandip Foundation in Nashik, Maharashtra. The images reveal that the Thar 5-Door is designed to be more family-friendly, offering increased rear legroom and a host of new features. These include a front center armrest, rear bench seat with a center armrest, rear AC vents, and a usable luggage area, positioning the Thar 5-Door as a viable option for those seeking the practicality of a conventional SUV without sacrificing rugged appeal.

The Thar 5-Door boasts advanced gadgetry, such as a larger 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment screen, a 10.2-inch fully digital instrument cluster, and a sunroof. Additional features include Level-2 ADAS, push-button start, auto headlights, and rain-sensing wipers. The exterior also sees updates with a longer wheelbase, new LED projector headlights, and rear disc brakes, further enhancing its appeal.

Under the hood, the Thar 5-Door will offer three engine options: a 1.5L Diesel with RWD layout, a 2.0L Turbo Petrol, and a 2.2L Diesel engine. These powertrains are expected to provide robust performance, although specific details remain to be seen. With these enhancements, Mahindra aims to position the Thar 5-Door as a strong contender in the market, catering to both off-road enthusiasts and those seeking a versatile, family-friendly SUV.
