Mahindra & Mahindra is set to launch the Mahindra Thar Armada in India in August 2024, promising enhanced features and technology compared to its three-door counterpart. This anticipated release is poised to captivate car enthusiasts, with its debut expected on August 15, 2024. While the exterior design will showcase subtle differences from the existing three-door variant, significant upgrades are anticipated within the interior, boasting premium features and advanced technology.

Maintaining its signature boxy proportions and robust 4×4 appeal, the Thar Armada is projected to command a starting price exceeding Rs. 15 lakh (ex-showroom), positioning it above the five-door Jimny and directly competing with the recently launched five-door Force Gurkha.

Sharing components with the Scorpio N and built on the same ladder frame chassis, the five-door Thar Armada will feature an extended wheelbase, promising a more spacious cabin suitable for families while retaining its off-road capabilities. The interior ambiance will be accentuated by a two-tone dashboard and white upholstery, enhancing the feeling of openness and comfort. Comfort enhancements are expected with more ergonomic seating compared to the three-door variant, alongside a plethora of modern features such as a sunroof, electrically operated and ventilated front seats, automatic AC, rear air conditioning vents, reading lamps for rear passengers, six airbags, ADAS, and a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment display.

Tech-savvy consumers can anticipate wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, a fully digital instrument cluster, auto-dimming inside rearview mirror, adjustable headrests, cooled glovebox, inner door handles mounted on the pillars, circular AC vents, and a 4×4 system in higher trim levels. Under the hood, the Thar Armada will be powered by a choice of engines including a 2.0L mStallion four-cylinder petrol engine and a 2.2L mHawk four-cylinder diesel engine, available with either a six-speed manual or a six-speed torque converter automatic transmission. The inclusion of a smaller 1.5L diesel engine in this lineup remains uncertain at this point.
