The Mahindra Thar 5-door variant is set to launch in 2024
Recent spy shots have confirmed the presence of a sunroof, a first for this model. The Thar has been a highly successful off-roader SUV in India since its relaunch in 2020, with over 1 lakh units sold and a pending order book of over 58,000 for the 3-door version. Mahindra has a pending order list of nearly 3 lakh cars, with the highest demand for the Scorpio range, followed by the XUV700 and the Thar 3-door.
Due to the high demand, Mahindra has decided not to launch any new cars in 2023 and instead focus on increasing production to reduce waiting periods. The Mahindra Thar 5-door and XUV300 facelift are planned for launch next year and have been spotted with single pane sunroofs, reflecting the increasing demand for sunroof-equipped cars.

The Thar 5-door will have petrol and diesel engine options, two gearbox choices, and a longer wheelbase of around 300mm compared to the 3-door version to accommodate the additional doors. It will maintain a similar design to the 3-door Thar and offer a sunroof along with similar interior features.
