For individuals eagerly anticipating the delivery of their newly purchased Mahindra SUV (Mahindra Scorpio-N XUV700, Thar), the extended waiting periods have been a source of frustration. However, there is some respite as the waiting period for three of the carmaker’s flagship SUVs has been reduced to a few months, compared to the previous lengthy delays. Nonetheless, potential buyers interested in acquiring the rear-wheel drive variant of the Thar SUV are currently facing a waiting period exceeding one year. Let’s take a brief overview of the Mahindra SUVs with the longest waiting periods.
Mahindra XUV700
The flagship three-row SUV from the carmaker, has varying waiting periods ranging from three to 13 months, depending on the chosen variant and delivery location. Even two years after its launch, the SUV continues to be in high demand, recently achieving the milestone of one lakh sales at an impressive pace.
As for the specific variants, the petrol options currently have a shorter waiting period compared to the more popular diesel variants. However, both the petrol and diesel top-end AX7 L variants may require a wait of slightly over a year. On the other hand, the MX variant of the XUV700 offers the shortest waiting period, promising delivery within six months.
Mahindra Scorpio-N
the latest flagship SUV from Mahindra, is facing significant waiting periods, particularly for its lower trim versions. Customers interested in purchasing the Scorpio-N may experience waiting periods of over a year, with the Z4 variant having the longest wait of up to 18 months.
However, those opting for the top-end Z8 variant can expect a shorter waiting period ranging from five to nine months, depending on whether they choose the petrol or diesel version. As for the Mahindra Scorpio Classic, customers can expect a wait of approximately 7 months.

Mahindra Thar
The Thar off-road SUV, which was the first of the new generation models from the carmaker to receive a significant update, has gained immense popularity as a lifestyle vehicle in India. In response to the high demand, Mahindra introduced a rear-wheel drive or 2WD version of the SUV, catering to individuals seeking a bold-looking SUV for urban or highway driving.
Surprisingly, this particular variant has become extremely popular, resulting in a waiting period of up to 17 months for the diesel variants. On the other hand, the petrol version is expected to be available much sooner, with delivery times estimated to be just a few weeks.
