During Mahindra and Mahindra’s recent earnings call, Rajesh Jejurikar, the executive director and CEO, confirmed that the Thar 5-door will be available for purchase around the middle of this year. The upcoming Thar 5-door, possibly branded as the “Thar Armada,” will be produced on a distinct assembly line separate from the Thar 3-door, which already faces significant wait times. Jejurikar reiterated this advancement, stating, “The Thar 5-door will operate on a separate line, as previously mentioned, and is scheduled to launch in the middle of this calendar year.”
Mahindra Thar 5-door features
The Mahindra Thar 5-door will get host of features including a sunroof, Dual-zone A/C, 10.25 inch infotainment system, fully-digital instrument cluster, electrically operated fuel-lid, front parking sensors, rear-centre armrest, 360-degree camera, six airbags etc.

Engines and Transmission
The Thar 5-door will share the same engine options as the 3-door version. This includes a 2.2-litre diesel engine delivering 130 BHP and 300 Nm, and a 2.0-litre petrol engine with an output of 150 BHP and 300-320 Nm. Both engines are likely to be available with 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmissions.
