Careless driving is a leading cause of accidents on Indian roads, and we frequently come across videos and images of car crashes from different parts of the country. While mass-segment cars are often involved, luxury vehicles and SUVs sometimes feature in these accidents as well. In one such instance, a Land Rover Defender SUV, worth crores, rear-ended a Kia Carens MPV. The video of the crash, shared by Piyush on Instagram, is believed to have taken place in either Rajasthan or Punjab.
Although the exact cause of the accident is unclear, it appears that the Defender hit the Kia Carens from behind. It’s uncertain whether the Defender was being driven recklessly or if the Carens braked suddenly to avoid an obstacle. The Kia Carens suffered damage to its rear, including the bumper, tail lamp, and tailgate. On the other hand, the Defender sustained more significant damage to its front grille, bonnet, headlamps, and bumper, making its repair cost much higher. Despite this, the Defender remained drivable.
Although the Defender performed well structurally in the crash, driving a damaged vehicle is not recommended due to the risk of mechanical issues. It’s always safer to have the vehicle towed to a service center for inspection and repairs. Driving a damaged vehicle can endanger both the driver and other road users, increasing the likelihood of another accident. To avoid such situations, maintaining a safe distance from the vehicle ahead and adhering to speed limits is crucial. Fortunately, it appears that the occupants of both vehicles are safe and unharmed.
