According to recent reports, Kia is preparing to launch the next-generation Seltos SUV, anticipated to debut next year. This new iteration will feature a petrol-electric hybrid powertrain, marking a significant step forward for the popular model. Production is set to begin in August 2025, with the vehicle expected to hit showrooms in its home country by year-end.
The Kia Seltos Hybrid could adopt its powertrain from Hyundai’s Kona Hybrid SUV. It is likely to be powered by a 1.6-litre hybrid unit, with an optional electric motor providing all-wheel drive. The Kona Hybrid’s 1.6-litre NA 4-cylinder engine, paired with a 32 kW electric motor, delivers a combined output of 140 BHP and 265 Nm. This hybrid system will be coupled with a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox, promising efficient performance.

The hybrid unit will be available alongside the standard ICE-only trims of the Seltos. This move is part of Kia’s broader strategy to introduce nine hybrid models by 2028, addressing fluctuating demand for pure electric vehicles. Kia has yet to officially release details for the next-gen Seltos, but the Seltos Hybrid is expected to offer an impressive 28 kmpl of mileage.
