Indian roads to have better infrastructure than U.S says Nitin Gadkari

Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, announced in Bhopal that India is committed to developing road infrastructure that will surpass that of the United States. Speaking at a seminar on emerging trends in road and bridge construction, he highlighted the importance of good road connectivity, railways, and waterways for the country’s economic growth.

Citing former U.S. President John F. Kennedy, he emphasized that prosperous nations owe much of their wealth to quality infrastructure. Gadkari also urged municipal bodies to use segregated waste for road construction, noting that 80 lakh tonnes of garbage have already been utilized to reduce landfill heights in Delhi.

Addressing concerns over road safety, Gadkari expressed alarm over the 1.78 lakh annual road accident deaths in India, urging experts to be proactive in improving accident-prone areas. He stressed the need for proper site inspections before project implementation and called for the creation of green highways to combat pollution by planting trees that reduce carbon dioxide.
