Ford Everest in India might feature a 3.0 Litre V6 Diesel Engine

Ford is exploring the introduction of a robust 3.0-liter V6 diesel engine for the upcoming launch of the Everest SUV in the Indian market. This initiative aims to boost the vehicle’s appeal and support a potentially higher price point.

The 3.0 V6 diesel, referred to internally as the “Lion,” delivers impressive performance with 250 horsepower and a hefty 600 Nm of torque. Manufactured in South Africa, this engine is well-regarded for its smooth operation and strong capabilities, making it a favored option for towing heavy loads in regions like Australia and North America.

Although towing may not be a primary focus in India, the V6 engine’s powerful output will certainly provide effortless acceleration and impressive performance for the Everest SUV.

Ford is expected to offer both the 3.0 V6 and a 2.0-liter bi-turbo diesel engine in India. The 2.0-liter variant will likely be sourced from the company’s Sanand plant in Gujarat, where it is currently produced for export. This strategic decision by Ford mirrors a previous strategy of providing a variety of engine options, including a powerful V6, to meet diverse customer preferences. This approach was successful in earlier generations of the Everest.

Ford’s return to the Indian market is on the horizon. The company has recently announced plans to restart production at its Chennai plant for export and is also considering the launch of both locally produced and imported electric vehicles.
