Air quality in Delhi has deteriorated for the fourth consecutive day, with thick smog blanketing the city and its neighboring areas. The Air Quality Index (AQI) has risen to 406, categorizing it as ‘severe.’
In response to the hazardous pollution levels, the government has enforced Stage III of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP), effective from November 15.
As part of GRAP-III, all BS3 petrol and BS4 diesel vehicles are banned from operating on city roads. Violators may incur a fine of ₹20,000 under Section 194(1) of the Motor Vehicle Act, 1988.
Additional measures to combat pollution include increasing the frequency of road sweeping, sprinkling water to suppress dust, and halting construction and demolition activities.
