The UV segment has witnessed 39.12% of total passenger Vehicle sales of nearly 27,11,457 lakh units in FY2021 as against 34.10% of the total PV sales of 27,73,519 units in FY2020. Below are UV’s which have contributed greatly to this effect.
1.Hyundai Creta – 1,20,035 units
It’s the new Creta which has a major contribution amongst the other UV’s, hit the Indian roads in March 2020, the Creta stole the crown from UV leader Vitara brezza and continued to rule the UV segment like a king. Even in tough market conditions this crossover managed to get astounding 46% year-on-year growth, which made it jump from fourth position to directly first.
2.Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza – 94,635 units
In FY2020, Maruti sold 1,10,641 units of the Brezza with 89% among them being diesel. The discontinuation of diesel engines of Maruti Cars may have had dramatic effect on the sales volume of it’s Cars, but make no mistake even after being a petrol-only crossover, this UV has managed to sell 94,655 units.
3. Hyundai Venue – 92,972 units
Hyundai Managed to sell 92,972 units in FY2021 as against 93,624 units sold in FY2020, this probably happened due to the strong surge of demand of it’s elder sibling Creta, but the demand rose up in the second half.
4. Kia Seltos – 89,173 units
The best selling Car of Kia Motors India is at fourth position in for FY2021, which has previously being placed at fifth position. 38237 units and 50936 units of diesel and petrol variants respectively comprised of Seltos’s total sales in FY2021.
5. Maruti Suzuki Ertiga – 88,571 units
With the total sale of 88571 units for FY2021, The Ertiga which was previously being placed at third position drops to fifth position for the reason similar to the reason of Brezza’s sales downfall. In FY2020, the diesel variants of Ertiga contributed nearly 44% of total sales.
