Beginning this week, the Gurgaon traffic police plan to enforce fines of up to Rs 10,000 for obstructing emergency vehicles such as ambulances and fire trucks.
As per reports, the police will record video evidence of instances where drivers impede emergency vehicles. Offenders will receive digital fines, accompanied by the recorded footage, through online challans. This penalty falls under Section 194E of the Motor Vehicle Act.
DCP Virender Vij highlighted that this measure aims to aid individuals in critical conditions who require urgent medical attention. He emphasized that the traffic police already facilitate green corridors for ambulances transporting organs for transplant between hospitals, contributing to the rescue of seriously ill patients.
